DON’T DRINK YOUR CALORIES!
They don’t call it “beer belly” for nothing. Alcohol is very high in calories. Plus, the body automatically converts it to fatty acids when it is metabolized, so the extra calories are more likely to be stored as body fat.
But what about that glass of wine, or an occasional brewsky with friends?
One drink won’t hurt, but you need to consider it as extra calories and increase your physical activity to make up for it. To give you an idea of the “price” of each glass, consider the calorie content of common servings of alcohol drinks:
· one shot (1 and 1/2 ounces ) 90 proof = 110 calories
· 100 proof = 124 calories
· 12 ounce beer (one typical bottle) 146 Calories
· 3 1/2 ounces of table wine = 72 Calories
· Sweet wines (3 1/2 ounces) = 158 Calories
